How to Join

The Regional Water Authority (RWA) serves and represents 21 members in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado and Yolo Counties. The Authority assists its members with protecting the reliability, availability and quality of the region's water resources.

RWA adds value to its members' in-house efforts and creates cost-effective programs to help local water suppliers satisfy Water Forum Commitments and meet their customers' needs.

RWA Membership has many benefits:

Working Together Works

Since its formation in 2001, RWA has logged several key accomplishments for the region:

Grant Successes
  • $22 million Proposition 13 grant for conjunctive use facilities
  • $2 million for regional water efficiency efforts
  • $900,000 for conjunctive use / data management studies

American River Basin Regional Conjunctive Use Program (ARBCUP)
Supported by a $22 million Proposition 13 grant from the California Department of Water Resources, the ARBCUP will implement infrastructure improvements that will strengthen the region's efforts to better manage its valuable surface and groundwater resources.

Water Efficiency Program
Ambitious program launched to help members meet best management practices.

Water / Energy Advertising Program Up and Running
Effort will save at least 10 million gallons of water a year as well as $63,000 in energy costs.

Drinking Water Source Assessment Program
Focused effort is helping the region's water suppliers protect water sources by identifying and assessing potential threats to water quality.
